Pilgrim's Ford

In 2911 of the Third Age, the Fell Winter ravaged Eriador. Many Men were forced the advancing cold on foot. It is commonly believed that one such group passed through the present day village of Durrow in its desperate search for a safe haven. Under such conditions, even a simple ford like the one spanning the Dunwash river would have been a significant setback. The ford was named in honour of these pilgrims so that future generations would remember their forefathers' hardship. A plaque is affixed to one of the lampposts at the ford, detailing the circumstances and effects of the Fell Winter's reign.
