A jolly, portly, and well-educated gentleman who served as a senior scholar at the Archives in Bree-town. His best friend was Nallo the Elder, a fellow scholar. He often acted as a surrogate parent for his friend's nephew, Nallo the Younger, when the elder was away on his frequent scholarly expeditions.

Some years ago, Miriam was accused of being an aesthetic, which at the time was punishable by death. He was hanged for his "crimes" after a brief trial. Both Nallo the Younger and Beacher Bailey were present at the hanging.
