The youngest girl in The Lady's Mantle Inn at fourteen, not yet working. While her parentage is uncertain, Bess treats the girl as her own, shielding her from the harsh realities that surround her as best she can. Despite Bess's best efforts, Hazel understands well enough where she is and what she will be. She enjoys all that is dreamy and whimsical, and tends the gardens outside with the greenest of thumbs. She loves collecting insects she finds among the gardens, keeping a loving collection of them in her room. She is allowed to stay with the agreement that she will pay her dues with work when she gets older and she's ready.
