Flame of Arestel

A flame that burned in a sacred basin the night the Covenant of Arestel was signed into being. It is also known as the Sheltered Flame because of the symbol used to represent it: a stylized flame cradled by a curving hand. It became the regalia of the Children of Gailion, the heroes who signed the Covenant.

Although once a physical object, the Flame of Arestel has long since become more of a concept. It is a reminder to the Children's descendants that the sheltered flame burns brightest. The Ranger Aradir, one of the last Watchers, interpreted this to mean that the Children are strongest when protecting each other.
